The next point of discussion brings MovieBabble into a new medium.  Ladies and gentlemen, I’m happy to announce the beginning of the MovieBabble YouTube page with the first video of many.  This video will be a part of an ongoing series entitled Scene Analysis that will take deeper looks into scenes from films and why they do or do not work.  The first video details a classic scene that has become beloved by many, the opening scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark!

We all love seeing Indy runaway from that gigantic boulder, but what truly makes the scene stand out in the history of film?  Watch the video below to find out!

Background

Released in 1981, Raiders of the Lost Ark is directed by Steven Spielberg and stars such actors as Harrison Ford, Karen Allen, and Paul Freeman.  The film depicts the adventures of Indiana Jones.  Throughout the film, Jones and friends take on the Nazis as they search for the Ark of the Covenant.  This artifact is said to have unspeakable powers.  If the Ark were to fall into the wrong hands, widespread destruction could ensue.

Raiders of the Lost Ark has since become one of the most iconic and recognizable film ever created.  Although the film experienced serious issues during development, it would go on to be considered one of the best films ever made.  It is a regular on most best movies of all-time lists, including the IMDb Top 250.

I got a real kick out of this video. It was well made and I was seriously laughing my ass off quite a number of times (especially with the singing in the beginning of the video ??). Great stuff, and a great analysis ?
